Earlier this year (2019), I became aware of Stachowski's Market in Georgetown - and its renowned pastrami sandwiches.
As a longtime resident in DC who has been looking for a quality corned beef or pastrami sandwich for years (and been met only with disappointment), I was curious to see what Stachowski's Market had to offer. So, one Saturday afternoon, I called the Market and placed an order for a pastrami sandwich. Within an hour, I picked up my order, along with a small bottle of Vernor's Ginger Ale, and made my way home. THE PASTRAMI SANDWICH WAS DELICIOUS and completely lived up to its billing. It had just enough mustard to please my palate. (I love both corned beef and pastrami sandwiches with copious amounts of mustard in them.)
I also loved the atmosphere in Stachowski's Market, which, though frenetic, was welcoming and convivial. I will definitely be going back for another pastrami sandwich soon. YUMMY!!! -

I was in the area & searched "best Pastrami" & Stachowski's came up. They have fresh and frozen items available. Also noticed they had Salmon, various Pates & a good variety of meats & deli selections
Ordered the Hot Pastrami with mustard on the side. It was huge (at least 3 in one!) & was very good. Meat was cut into big chunks although I saw pictures with thin slices so looks like it varies. For sure one of the best in DC. Also tried the Peroszki-pocket with flaky crust filled with Pastrami, rice, cheese. Flavors came together nicely.
The lady that took my order was very service minded. A small and charming deli, market/butcher worth a try. Will be back to try the other sandwiches & deli items -

Stachowski's Market is a small corner deli in north Georgetown away from the main shops and in a residential neighborhood. It opened in 2013 and is primarily a meat shop. However, they also sell bread, some produce, coffee, grab-n-go drinks, chips, cookies, and a few other items.
In the very back are the meats and a board of sandwiches written in chalk. Every sandwich is HUGE! I ordered the pastrami sandwich and it came with three pickle spears and thickly cut pastrami. I could only eat one half. It explains why it ost $17 for a sandwich. It really is two meals.
They also do dinners for pick up and they rotate each week. -

This deli/market is one of the best I have visited. Considering NYC and Philly have some great ones as well, but this one gives stiff competition. I learned about this place through a food tour I took while in Georgetown. We had the opportunity to eat a whole Piroszki, which is better than eating a deli sandwich. The Piroszki is cross between a pot pie and calzone. I am a picky eater and normally pick out things I do not like. When eating the Piroszki, I picked out nothing! The flavors were so good! The pastrami meat was lean and did not have pockets of fat deposits like most deli's have in their pastrami meat. It was so warm and fresh.
If you are in the area I would highly suggest stopping by this place. You will not be disappointed. -

Hands down best Sandwich Joint in DC. The hot Pastrami is incredible and very old school how they used to make them as basically an incredibly large stack of meat between some bread. Definitely a Jewish deli institution.
